The Heart
Matthew 5:8, Jesus was speaking to his followers saying, blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Understand this, no one is borne with a pure heart. Romans 3:10, As it is written, there is non righteous no not one. The biblical use of the term “heart” means the inward motivations which control a persons words and deed. All his thought, desires, words and actions flow from deep within him. Jeremiah 17:9-10, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? The Lord searcheth the heart, He try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doing.”
As we go through life in our own way, our heart becomes harder and harder. The corrupt human heart cannot be changed by itself. The only remedy is to experience God’s grace, be born again through faith in Jesus Christ, and receive a new heart. God is able to circumcise (cut away the uncleanness of) the heart of His people, so that we choose His way, love and obey Him with their whole being. Hebrew 10:16-17, This is the covenant that I will make with them……saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.
